Golden French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of thick bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar (if using), cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Dip the Bread: Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium heat. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Let the excess drip off.
  3. Cook the French Toast: Melt a tablespoon of butter in the skillet. Add the dipped bread slices and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Serve: Once cooked, serve the French toast hot with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or powdered sugar.
