Ingredients:
- 4–5 medium potatoes (thinly sliced)
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar works best)
- 1 can (300–400 ml) cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- Optional: ½ teaspoon paprika or dried herbs

- Preheat oven
Set your oven to 180°C (350°F). - Prepare potatoes
Wash and slice the potatoes thinly (no need to peel unless you prefer). - Make the sauce
In a bowl, mix:
- Cream soup
- Milk
- Garlic
- Half of the shredded cheese
- Salt & pepper
- Layer the dish
- Lightly grease a baking dish
- Add a layer of potatoes
- Pour some sauce over
- Repeat layers until everything is used
- Add topping
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and dot with butter. - Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes, then uncover and bake another 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.

- Slice potatoes evenly so they cook uniformly
- Add onions or bacon bits for extra flavor
- Let it rest 10 minutes before serving (it thickens nicely)
