Crispy French Fries Recipe (with Egg Coating)

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 2–3 tablespoons cornstarch (optional but recommended for extra crispiness)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper or paprika (optional)
  • Oil (for frying or baking)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the potatoes
    • Peel and cut the potatoes into thin sticks (fries shape).
    • Rinse them in cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. Soak (important step)
    • Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 20–30 minutes.
    • Drain and pat completely dry with a clean towel.
  3. Coat with egg
    • Beat 1 egg in a bowl.
    • Add the potatoes and mix well so all fries are lightly coated.
  4. Add starch & seasoning
    • Sprinkle cornstarch, salt, and spices.
    • Toss until evenly coated.
  5. Cook the fries
    Option 1: Frying (crispiest)
    • Heat oil to medium-high (around 170–180°C).
    • Fry in batches for 5–7 minutes until golden and crispy.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Option 2: Oven baking (healthier)
    • Preheat oven to 200°C.
    • Spread fries on a lined tray (don’t overcrowd).
    • Bake 25–35 minutes, flipping halfway.

🔥 Tips for best results:

  • Dry potatoes well before coating (this is key for crispiness).
  • Don’t overcrowd while cooking.
  • Add a pinch of garlic powder or paprika for extra flavor.
