Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes
- 1 egg
- 2–3 tablespoons cornstarch (optional but recommended for extra crispiness)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black pepper or paprika (optional)
- Oil (for frying or baking)
Instructions:
- Prepare the potatoes
- Peel and cut the potatoes into thin sticks (fries shape).
- Rinse them in cold water to remove excess starch.
- Soak (important step)
- Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 20–30 minutes.
- Drain and pat completely dry with a clean towel.
- Coat with egg
- Beat 1 egg in a bowl.
- Add the potatoes and mix well so all fries are lightly coated.
- Add starch & seasoning
- Sprinkle cornstarch, salt, and spices.
- Toss until evenly coated.
- Cook the fries
Option 1: Frying (crispiest)- Heat oil to medium-high (around 170–180°C).
- Fry in batches for 5–7 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Option 2: Oven baking (healthier)
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Spread fries on a lined tray (don’t overcrowd).
- Bake 25–35 minutes, flipping halfway.
