Dry Yeast for Plants: A Natural Plant Booster for Healthier Growth

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (helps activate the yeast)
  • 1 liter (4 cups) lukewarm water

Instructions

  1. Pour the lukewarm water into a container.
  2. Stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  3. Add the dry yeast and mix well.
  4. Let the mixture sit for 1–2 hours to activate.
  5. Dilute by mixing 1 part yeast solution with 5 parts waterbefore using.

How to Use

  • Water the soil around the base of your plants.
  • Apply about ½–1 cup for small houseplants or 1–2 cups for larger potted plants.
  • Use once every 3–4 weeks during the growing season.

Best For

  • Houseplants
  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Roses
  • Herbs
  • Flowering annuals

Tips

  • Use the solution on moist soil, not dry soil.
  • Avoid overusing it, as frequent applications can upset the soil’s natural balance.
  • Store any leftover mixture in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days and stir before using.
  • For the best results, combine this with regular watering, compost, or a balanced plant fertilizer.

Note: There is limited scientific evidence that yeast alone acts as a fertilizer. It is best considered an occasional soil supplement rather than a complete source of plant nutrition.
