Ingredients:
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade), thawed
- 3–4 slices cooked ham
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or gruyère work great)
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Prepare the pastry: Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread the filling:
- Brush the pastry lightly with Dijon mustard.
- Evenly layer the ham slices over the pastry.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Roll it up: Starting from one long edge, roll the pastry tightly into a log.
- Chill: Place the roll in the fridge for 10–15 minutes — this makes slicing easier.
- Slice: Cut into 1.5 cm (½-inch) thick slices and place them flat on the baking sheet.
- Brush with egg wash for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving.
🍽️ Tips:
- Add a sprinkle of black pepper or dried herbs for extra flavor.
- Serve warm with honey mustard or a light dipping sauce.
- These can be made ahead and frozen — just bake straight from frozen, adding 5 more minutes to the time.
