Crispy Mozzarella Cheese Roll

Ingredients

:

  • 4 mozzarella sticks (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (optional, for a little extra flavor)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray (or olive oil spray)

Instructions

:

  1. Prepare the Mozzarella Sticks:
    • If you’re using store-bought mozzarella sticks, freeze them for at least 30 minutes before starting. Freezing helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly during the cooking process.
    • If you are making your own, cut mozzarella into sticks, about 3-4 inches long.
  2. Set Up the Dipping Stations:
    • In one bowl, add flour.
    • In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
    • In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the Mozzarella Sticks:
    • Dredge each mozzarella stick in the flour, making sure it’s fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.
    • Dip it into the egg wash, ensuring it’s fully coated in the egg.
    • Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently so the breadcrumbs stick well. For an extra crunchy coating, you can repeat the egg and breadcrumb step (double breading).
  4. Freeze Again:
    • After breading the sticks, place them on a baking sheet and freeze them again for at least 15-20 minutes. This helps the coating set and ensures the cheese stays inside during cooking.
  5. Cook the Mozzarella Rolls:
    • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
    • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
    • Place the frozen mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Don’t overcrowd them.
    • Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they’re golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the mozzarella sticks cool for a minute before serving. Enjoy with marinara sauce, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips

:

  • Double Breaded: For extra crispiness, double coat your mozzarella sticks by dipping them back in the egg and breadcrumbs after the first coating.
