Baked Parmesan Potato Fries

Ingredients

:

  • 4 medium potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold are great choices)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Wash and peel the potatoes (optional—leave the skin on for extra texture and nutrition).
    • Cut each potato into thin strips, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick, to make the fries. Try to keep them as even as possible for uniform cooking.
  3. Toss the Potatoes:
    • In a large bowl, toss the potato strips with olive oil, making sure they’re evenly coated.
    • Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and any other seasonings you like. Toss again to ensure everything is evenly mixed.
  4. Add the Parmesan:
    • Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the potatoes and toss again until the fries are well coated with cheese.
  5. Arrange on the Baking Sheet:
    • Spread the seasoned potato strips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding to ensure the fries cook evenly and get crispy.
  6. Bake the Fries:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through. Bake until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Once baked, remove the fries from the oven and sprinkle with a little more Parmesan cheese or fresh parsley for added flavor and color.
    • Serve the Baked Parmesan Potato Fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce like ketchup, ranch, or a garlic aioli.

Tips

:

  • For Extra Crispiness: If you like your fries extra crispy, you can broil them for the last 2-3 minutes of baking, but keep a close eye on them so they don’t burn.
  • Use Fresh Parmesan: Freshly grated Parmesan works best for this recipe, as it will melt more evenly and provide a richer flavor.
  • Seasoning Variations: Feel free to experiment with other spices such as paprika, chili powder, or smoked paprika for different flavor profiles.

These Baked Parmesan Potato Fries are crispy, cheesy, and a healthier alternative to traditional fried fries. Enjoy them as a snack or side dish that’s sure to satisfy!
