Soft Turkish-Style Yeast Bread Rolls

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

For the topping

  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • Optional: sesame seeds or parsley

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast
    In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the dough
    Add egg, melted butter, oil, and salt. Gradually add flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead
    Knead for about 8–10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. First rise
    Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the rolls
    Divide the dough into small equal balls and place them in a greased baking dish.
  6. Second rise
    Cover and let the rolls rise again for 20–30 minutes.
  7. Add butter
    Pour melted butter over the rolls as shown in the image.
  8. Bake
    Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden and fluffy.

Serve warm with:

  • Honey 🍯
  • Jam
  • Cheese
  • Or alongside soups and stews

✨ Tip: Brushing with extra butter right after baking makes the rolls even softer and more flavorful.
