Ingredients
- 2 lbs (900 g) ground beef
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (10.5 oz/300 g) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 soup can milk (or 1 cup beef broth for a richer flavor)
- 1 packet (1 oz/28 g) onion soup mix (optional, but adds great flavor)
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and shape into 6 large hamburger steaks.
- Arrange the hamburger steaks in a lightly greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In another bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk (or beef broth), onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and sliced mushrooms if using.
- Pour the mushroom mixture evenly over the hamburger steaks.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with foil.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the hamburger steaks reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- Remove the foil for the last 10–15 minutes if you’d like the sauce to thicken slightly.
