Creamy White Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients:

  • 200g white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream (240ml), chilled
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 2 egg whites (room temperature)
  • 1 tbsp sugar (for egg whites)

Instructions:

1.

Melt the White Chocolate:

  • Place the chopped white chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  • Melt it gently using a double boiler or microwave. If using the microwave, heat the chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely smooth. Let it cool slightly to room temperature.

2.

Whip the Cream:

  • In a separate bowl, pour the chilled heavy cream and vanilla extract.
  • Using an electric mixer, whip the cream until soft peaks form. If you like your mousse a bit sweeter, add powdered sugar at this stage and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.

3.

Whisk the Egg Whites:

  • In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add the 1 tbsp sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.

4.

Combine the Ingredients:

  • Gently fold the melted white chocolate into the whipped cream. Make sure the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  • Once that’s done, gently fold in the whipped egg whites. Be careful not to deflate the mixture; fold it slowly to keep the mousse light and airy.

5.

Chill the Mousse:

  • Spoon the mousse into serving bowls or glasses.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours (or overnight) to allow it to set and firm up.

6.

Serve:

  • Before serving, you can garnish the mousse with white chocolate shavings, fresh berries, or a drizzle of fruit syrup if desired.
  • Serve chilled for the best creamy texture!

Tips:

  • For a Stronger White Chocolate Flavor: Use a high-quality white chocolate with a higher cocoa butter content for a richer flavor.
  • Egg-Free Option: If you prefer to make the mousse without egg whites, you can skip that step and simply fold in more whipped cream for texture.
  • Make-Ahead: This mousse can be made a day in advance, making it the perfect dessert for dinner parties or special occasions.

Enjoy your delicious, silky white chocolate mousse! It’s sure to be a hit with anyone who loves creamy desserts.
