Ingredients:
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional, but recommended)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract

- Cook the raisins
In a small saucepan, combine raisins and water. Bring to a boil, then simmer for about 5 minutes. Let cool. - Preheat oven
Set your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a square baking pan. - Cream butter & sugar
In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. - Add eggs & vanilla
Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla. - Combine dry ingredients
In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. - Mix everything together
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
Stir in the cooled raisin mixture (including the liquid). - Bake
Pour batter into the pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. - Cool & slice
Let it cool completely, then cut into squares.
