The trick to making delicious crispy fries without a drop of oil

Ingredients

  • 3–4 large potatoes
  • 1–2 tablespoons cornstarch (this is the secret!)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Optional: paprika, garlic powder, black pepper

Instructions

1. Cut & soak

  • Peel (optional) and cut potatoes into fries.
  • Soak them in cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.

2. Dry well

  • Drain and pat completely dry with a towel.

3. Coat with cornstarch

  • Sprinkle cornstarch over the fries.
  • Toss until evenly coated (light, thin layer).

4. Bake or air-fry

Oven method:

  • Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F)
  • Line a tray with parchment paper
  • Spread fries in a single layer (no overlapping)
  • Bake 30–40 minutes, flipping halfway

Air fryer method:

  • Cook at 200°C (400°F) for 15–20 minutes
  • Shake halfway through

5. Season & serve

  • Add salt and spices right after cooking
  • Serve hot for best crunch
