- 2 tbsp butter (softened)
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp poppy seeds
- 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Instructions:
- Make the dough:
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and poppy seeds. Add warm milk, egg, and butter. Mix until a soft dough forms. - Knead:
Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. The dough should be soft but not sticky. - First rise:
Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size. - Shape:
Divide the dough into equal portions and shape into smooth balls. Place each ball into a greased oven-safe cup or ramekin. - Second rise:
Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes until puffy. - Egg wash:
Brush the tops gently with egg yolk mixed with milk for a shiny golden finish. - Bake:
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown. - Cool:
Let them cool slightly before removing from cups. Enjoy warm!
Tip:
These are perfect as soft sandwich rolls or served with butter and jam.
