Ingredients:
- For the Biscuits:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
- For the Topping:
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Cut in the butter: Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the wet ingredients: Stir in the buttermilk and cheese until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly lumpy.
- Form biscuits: Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the prepared baking dish, arranging them close together.
- Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- Make the topping: While the biscuits bake, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, black pepper (if using), and Parmesan cheese in a small bowl.
- Finish the biscuits: Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and immediately brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of each biscuit.
- Serve: Serve warm, and enjoy these cheesy, garlic-filled biscuits!
