Classic Banana Pudding Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (5.1 oz) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 box of vanilla wafers (about 11 oz)
  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • Whipped cream or whipped topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Pudding:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla instant pudding mix, cold milk, and sweetened condensed milk.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract and mix until the pudding thickens, about 2 minutes.
  2. Layer the Pudding:
    • In a trifle dish or a 9×13-inch glass dish, layer the bottom with a handful of vanilla wafers.
    • Add a layer of banana slices over the wafers.
    • Pour a layer of pudding over the bananas, spreading it evenly.
    • Repeat the layering process (wafers, bananas, pudding) until all ingredients are used up, ending with a layer of pudding on top.
  3. Top with Crushed Wafers:
    • Crush some additional vanilla wafers and sprinkle them over the top of the pudding for a crunchy, sweet finish.
  4. Chill:
    • Cover and refrigerate the pudding for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together and the dessert to set.
  5. Serve:
    • Optionally, you can top it with whipped cream before serving for extra creaminess.
