Ingredients:
- 4 slices of thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast works best)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream (or whole milk for a lighter option)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
- Maple syrup or caramel sauce (optional)
- Fresh berries (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Custard:
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined. Make sure the sugar dissolves.
- Soak the Bread:
- Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, making sure both sides are fully coated. Let the bread soak for about 30 seconds to 1 minute for extra creaminess.
- Fry the French Toast:
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt.
- Place the soaked bread slices on the skillet and cook until golden brown and crispy on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side. Make sure not to overcrowd the skillet, cooking in batches if necessary.
- Serve:
- Once the French toast is done, serve it immediately on a plate. Top with your choice of maple syrup or caramel sauce.
- For a fresh touch, add some berries (like strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries) to the side.
