Herb & Cheese Quick Bread: A Savory Delight in Just One Hour

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (or other herbs of your choice)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using). Stir in the shredded cheese.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined.
  4. Combine: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the bread dense.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool & Serve: Let the bread cool for about 10 minutes before removing it from the pan. Slice and serve with a dollop of sour cream or butter.

Enjoy this warm, cheesy, and herby delight!
