Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme (or other herbs of your choice)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder (if using). Stir in the shredded cheese.
- Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined.
- Combine: Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the bread dense.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool & Serve: Let the bread cool for about 10 minutes before removing it from the pan. Slice and serve with a dollop of sour cream or butter.
Enjoy this warm, cheesy, and herby delight!
