Homemade Lemon Peel Syrup (Natural Citrus Elixir)

🧾 Ingredients

  • Peels from 4–5 lemons (preferably organic)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 to 1Β½ cups sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for extra tang)

  1. Prepare the peels
    Wash the lemons well and peel them, avoiding too much of the white pith (it can be bitter). Cut peels into small pieces.
  2. Boil
    Add the lemon peels and water to a pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15–20 minutes.
  3. Strain
    Remove from heat and strain the liquid into a bowl, pressing the peels to extract all the flavor.
  4. Add sugar
    Return the liquid to the pot, add sugar, and stir over low heat until fully dissolved.
  5. Optional boost
    Add lemon juice for a brighter flavor.
  6. Cool & bottle
    Let it cool, then pour into clean glass bottles or jars. Store in the refrigerator.
