Ingredients

  • 1 large head green cabbage, cut into 6–8 wedges
  • 8 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet until lightly crisp. Reserve a little of the bacon fat if desired.
  2. Arrange the cabbage wedges in the slow cooker.
  3. Sprinkle with garlic powder and top with the cooked bacon.
  4. Pour the chicken broth around the cabbage.
  5. Cover and cook:
    • Low: 5–6 hours, or
    • High: 2½–3 hours
  6. Serve with the cooking juices spooned over the top.

Tips

  • Add black pepper to taste.
  • For extra flavor, use smoked bacon.
  • Serve alongside roasted potatoes, sausage, or crusty bread.
